The fishmongers

In the maritime cities of Apulia the fishermen usually sell freshly caught fish in areas adjacent to the port. There is of all types: mussels, squid, mullet, anchovies, shrimp, eel (the latter are consumed mainly at Christmas time). Eating raw fish is not only a centuries-old tradition, but a true sign of belonging to the sea. Very popular are the sea urchins, with their armor of thorns and their orange flesh, tasty and fragrant. Among the delights of the sea one can not miss is the octopus. The octopus is subjected to a curl process so that its tentacles become very tender and edible.
